Mr. Truss Gets on Top of Fall Protection at SBCA's Annual Meeting

To start the meeting on a lighthearted note, Mr. Truss showed up at this year’s SBCA Annual Meeting to discuss the challenges component manufacturers face in complying with OSHA’s new residential fall protection rules.

At the conclusion of the Mr. Truss presentation, the following annual industry award recipients were announced:

#1 Component Manufacturer Recruiter:

#1 Recruiting Chapter:
Truss Manufacturers Association of Texas (TMAT)

Hall of Fame Award:
Dwight Hikel, Shelter Systems Limited (Westminster, MD)

Dick Bowman Industry Enthusiast Award:
Tom Whatley, Eagle Metal, Inc.  (Mabank, TX)

SBC Leadership Award:
Ken Cloyd, California Truss Company, Inc. (Perris, CA)

Congratulations to all the award winners, and on behalf of the entire structural components industry, thank you for your significant contributions to the betterment of the association and the entire industry!

To conclude the meeting, Steve Stroder (ProBuild) took the gavel from Joe Hikel (Shelter Systems) and assumed the role and responsibilities of SBCA President.  In his acceptance speech, Stroder stressed that while times were tough, it is a pivotal moment in the industry’s history. “Now is the time to elevate our companies and our industry by collectively embracing the tools we have created over the years to grow our structural building component market share,” said Stroder. “ Together we can raise the bar for our industry by implementing and promoting our best practice programs to our customers and building officials.”
