Parting Shots: If I Had a Hammer...

Being a “one-hit wonder” in the music industry is not necessarily something to aspire to, but in the SBCA booth at BCMC this year, several CMs and suppliers strove to earn that very title.

To raise money for the SBCA Emerging Leaders Scholarship Fund, which will help cover the travel costs for new attendees to a 2019 Open Quarterly Meeting (OQM), a “Drive-a-Nail” competition challenged participants to sink a nail flush with the wood in one swing of a hammer. Many tried, but only a few succeeded. Those who did received the coveted “One-Hit-Wonder” pins like those being worn by Steve Stroder of California TrusFrame (pictured at left). His two buttons mean he did it twice. It was one of a few events, including Casino Night and the 50/50 raffle, that raised over $8,800 for the scholarship fund.
