Rhonda Leppert of Annandale Millwork and Allied Systems Corporation was selected as the recipient for the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association (NVBIA) Women in the Building Industry 2019 award. Presented by Alicia Skoug, Rhonda accepted the award at the NVBIA President’s Ball in late January 2020.

Rhonda is a member of the NVBIA Women in the Building Industry (WBI) group whose mission it is to promote career advancement and leadership skills of women in the building industry, and to ultimately increase the number of women in leadership in the construction industry. Within the WBI group are several committees dedicated to planning training, networking and community service events throughout the year to foster growth and professional development of its members.

“WBI was formed because of the collective desire for women to learn from other women,” Rhonda explained. “In a formerly male-dominated industry, it’s invigorating to see how many of us work in construction. You build a rapport with people that deal with the same issues you do.”

A diverse group of women, WBI is comprised of lawyers, engineers, real estate agents/brokers, marketing directors, builders and suppliers; everyone from support staff to business owners take part.

“Working closely with each other broadens your perspective on all the parts and pieces that go into building a home or developing a community, from the land selection process to delivering the community to the HOA. I take away something of value every time we meet,” Rhonda said.

After more than 14 years in the component manufacturing industry, serving as executive assistant for Gene Frogale, president at Annandale, they’ve formed an exceptional working relationship.

“Rhonda is the most hardworking and conscientious person I know,” said Gene. “We work at a fast pace at Annandale Millwork and Allied Systems and she keeps up with everything. The demands of managing our sales efforts and our heavy involvement with SBCA and NVBIA are enormous but Rhonda and I have developed a unique relationship that works fantastically. Rhonda is the best!”
