The Truss Plate Institute (TPI) announced today the opening of a second Public Review & Comment period for the draft BSR/TPI 3-201X, Design of Bracing for Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses. The Public Review & Comment period is open until October 19, 2015.

TPI began the process of developing the new TPI 3 standard in March of 2009 with the formation of a Project Committee representing a cross section of the industry. Following the first Public Review of the draft standard and after considering all of the comments received, substantive changes were made to the standard. This updated draft is now open for Public Review to ensure that the views of all interested parties have been given full consideration.

The draft BSR/TPI 3-201X provides information on the design of temporary and permanent bracing of metal plate connected wood trusses. Included will be basic bracing principles, installation loads, methodology for determining maximum spacing of temporary lateral braces along chords and webs under installation loads, methodology for determining what forces the lateral braces (temporary or permanent) must resist, and a methodology for designing the temporary and permanent bracing and bracing connections.
