SBCA Members are working in their communities every day to connect themselves locally by creating jobs, contributing to healthy local economies and forming valuable relationships.  Zeeland Truss & Components in Wyoming, MI recently hosted three guided plant tours for members of their community and local lawmakers.

In June of 2013 the truss and building components manufacturing facility took an afternoon to celebrate with a catered lunch for area leaders and clients.  During the celebration, over 30 guests were given private tours of roof trusses, wall panels and floor trusses being built.  This celebration attracted the attention of local news outlets (Mlive and Rapid Growth Media) who covered the positive story of job growth occurring at Zeeland Truss & Components.

In the weeks following the initial open house, more groups of local leaders requested private tours of the facility.  Since June, representatives from The Right Place (A Grand Rapids, MI-based economic development agency), the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MHSDA) and the City of Wyoming, MI have all toured the manufacturing floor and witnessed first-hand the valuable products being manufactured by Michiganders.  The most recent tour boasted the Wyoming City Council and their Mayor.

‘These tours have been a great way to build valuable relationships through showing our community the work we are doing in their backyards,’ said Dean DeHoog, General Manager of Zeeland Truss & Components. “They’ve also been an effective way to  showcase the structural building components industry to the community.”
