A Sunny BCMC Build
Again this year during BCMC week, get day-by-day updates from our man-in-the-field, Jess Lohse, President of Rocky Mountain Truss Co. in Havre MT
For the third year in a row, BCMC week kicked off with BCMC Build. The action started at the crack of dawn and continued past sundown. Everyone on the build site worked their tails off this year as we enjoyed sunny skies and the lovely Louisiana humidity.
This year's project was a little different in that we built the home 4' off the ground on cinder block piers. Rather than worry all day about fall protection as we stood the walls, installed the windows and nailed on siding, we worked on the ground and used a crane truck on site to lift the walls in place. We also had a crew working on the roof, standing the trusses on short knee walls, speeding up the whole build. The entire neighborhood was aware of our efforts, and many stopped to take a look as the roof was put into place.
I had the opportunity to meet Karen and Teddy, the home's new owners. They were very appreciative of our efforts and were on site watching the action all day. I would like to thank all the volunteers out there; everyone worked hard and enjoyed their day. I would also like to thank all the people who donated to BCMC Build, with both monetary and material contributions.
